Hickory Hill is an active member of the community and does what it can to provide filmmaking skills to encourage grassroots initiatives.

Laura is an advocate for her local community and often combines her skills in public speaking and filmmaking. During her time at university she held many student representative roles including Coordinator of the Aid and Development Learning Community, Sub-Dean of Fenner Hall and President of the Fenner Residents’ Committee with a focus on student welfare and encouraging civic engagement. In 2011 Laura was award the Tillyard Prize, the oldest and most prestigious prize at The Australian National University for her commitment to service whilst maintaining high academic performance. Her involvement at the University has continued this year as an ANU Ambassador.

Currently Laura is an active member of the Nimmitabel Show Society as this year’s Nimmitabel Showgirl and next year’s Photography Steward. She is also in charge of promoting the committee’s hard work by producing a promo for sponsorship purposes and plans to bring the city to the country via various marketing strategies for the annual event. She is also in the running to be part of the Rural Achiever team at the 2013 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
